What is Piracy?
Piracy is simply the unauthorized use of a copyrighted material, that is, violation of a copyright.
Simply put, if we talk about music or movie piracy, then any illegal use of it, that is without buying the copyright from the owner and displaying it in public or selling it without permissions is a part of copyright infringement/ violation of the copyright act.
Movies are created with a lot of hard work and cost is incurred to promote and launch it. But the biggest disadvantage that lies here is that the customer or the viewer has to watch it only in cinema halls or Television, when its premiere is aired, else you are part of the crime. The options are very limited to watch, which forces people to commit crime.
When it comes to music piracy, some singers are avid with the fact that its uncontrollable and shouldn’t be treated like a movie piracy because according to some musicians it’s a form of expressing their love for the artist and their work. The artist feel that the public should not be prosecuted for downloading illegal music from the internet.

IT’S A BIG QUESTION MARK FOR THE GOVERNMENT AS WELL..
It is a part of a crime at some countries but allowed at others. It is allowed in Canada up to some extent, that is, downloading copyrighted music from peer to peer networks is considered legal but uploading files on the internet isn’t.
Also there are discussions on the IP address which notifies as an Intellectual Property, which means the right is reserved with the individual. In case of television there is no reservation of rights, so privacy statement is reserved for television viewers.
There are still talks going over the privacy issue on the internet. Music companies cannot sell the copyright to each and every website owner to sells music through download, the same case applies for movies.
SO WHAT IS THE REAL ANSWER??
There is actually a big loop hole in the downloading industry because of which there is no action being taken and everyone seems to be quite. The fact that a user has a right to obtain a copy of his/her product is not specified as to how the copy can be taken.
Though we all agree that downloading is the easiest form of enjoying our favorite movie. It saves upon the cost and the time, plus it’s a leisure to watch it at home at our own convenience. Students are generally cautious while downloading a movie or a music as they do not want to get into any kind of legal issue with the developer/creator and the government.
There are some sites where sharing is allowed, that is the creator itself uploads the video and music for public viewing, such as Youtube.com, video.google.com.
There are companies who create their own account and place video for public viewing which also acts as a part advertising.
Eg: www.vcommission.com/videos
